The 2021 Australian Jazz 'Bell' Awards presentation night is being staged on Thursday, April 21, 7 pm, at Bird's Basement. The 2021 Awards Night will celebrate outstanding Australian jazz that was recorded or performed over 2019 and 2020. The 2021 finalists for the six Awards come from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Tasmania, together with an acclaimed Hall of Fame inductee, and range from the well-known to rising talents (and include several first-time “Bell” finalists.). Began in 2003, the Awards are a highlight of the Australian jazz calendar. In addition to the presentations, the evening features a respected piano trio, with cameo performances from several of the winners over the evening.
